When modifying your shipping container, do not forget about ventilation. Vents are one of the most important items you can add to your sea can, especially if you are storing dry goods or hazardous materials.
Typically, containers have 2 to 4 vents installed, but they are not designed to exchange airflow. They are used to equalize pressure and keep seawater out when in transportation. They do not prevent condensation.
Condensation is a huge problem in sea cans as it can cause mould and mildew to grow and damage your products. So, installing proper ventilation will save you money in the long run. That is why it is best to invest in a good vent that will work for you and your needs.
If you need a vent that exchanges air within the container consistently, then check out Container Modification World's Solar Powered Exhaust Vent. Under ideal conditions, this vent will exchange the air every 3 minutes in a 20' container and every 6 minutes in a 40' container.
Because this vent is solar-powered, we recommend it be used in conjunction with 2 Big Air 45 vents, especially if you are storing hazardous materials (HAZMAT). This is so there is adequate ventilation when the solar-powered fan is not in operation.
This vent will eliminate moisture and excess heat with our state-of-the-art, computer-modelled frame design, which adapts to the Canada Go Green 4 Seasons Solar Vent (included). We engineered it to be easily installed anywhere on the shipping container, van trailers and all-wood construction buildings.
