How To Protect Your Cargo Trailer From Being Broken Into - Shipping Container Lock Box Solution
How To Protect Your Cargo Trailer From Being Broken Into - Shipping Container Lock Box Solution

Do you own a cargo trailer? Are you looking for a secure way to lock it up? We have our high-security lockbox which is used for shipping containers, but it also works on enclosed trailers.

No locking system will ever be thief-free, but the more difficult you make your trailer to break into, the less likely someone will target it.

This lock box is designed around the 80mm lock to completely encase the lock so bolt cutters or angle grinders cannot get access.

do you own a cargo trailer are you
0:01
looking for a secure way to lock it up
0:03
we have our high security lock box which
0:06
is meant for shipping containers but it
0:07
also works on cargo trailers
0:16
for a list of the tools required check
0:17
the description below before i get into
0:20
the installation make sure you subscribe

0:24
by day as we modify containers and

install accessories
0:30
hello my name is riley blutterth i own
0:33
rjb contracting i unfortunately got
0:35
broken into over the weekend
0:38
left work saturday showed up monday and
0:40
a lot of my tools were gone so this is
0:42
the lock that we used for many years
0:45
thought it was really secure with the
0:46
small opening had it on there and when
0:50
they bent it sideways they were able to
0:52
get some bolt cutters in there and cut
0:55
it down channing said he's got a lock
0:56
system that should work a lot better for
0:58
me so i'm excited to see what's going to
1:00
happen there so we haven't even held
1:01
this up yet so we'll see how she fits
1:05
it actually looks really good there's a
1:07
laser cut profile here that's meant to
1:09
clear the rubber door seal
1:11
on shipping containers and because this
1:13
has a bit of a struggle here to stop you
1:16
know people from getting a pry bar
1:17
crowbar in there
1:19
that laser profile sits nicely and then
1:22
this lock box uh the left side of it is
1:26
a bit deeper than the right and this
1:28
left door is a bit further in than the
1:29
right so that's gonna accommodate for
1:32
that perfectly it's actually sitting
1:33
nice and flush against the right door
1:34
and the left door here
1:37
with the lock box itself
1:39
uh two sets of carriage bolts grade five
1:41
carriage bolts comes with this so uh
1:43
there's either the three inch length or
1:45
the four and a half inch length so
1:46
depending on the thickness of your door
1:47
if you got an insulated cargo trailer
1:49
you might need the four and a half but i
1:51
think for this one we're only going
1:52
gonna need the three inch we'll see when
1:54
we get there
1:55
then uh yeah you also got your washer
1:58
plates that are included uh these washer
2:00
plates here they act or they double
2:03
as your uh your marking template
2:06
and so
2:08
um basically we need to mimic the
2:11
shipping container rubber door so
2:13
there'll be a washer plate washer plate
2:14
and then the small one and so we'll just
2:16
get into that right now and show you how
2:18
that's done
2:19
so i think we're going gonna want the uh
2:21
three inch carriage bolts here just
2:23
crack the doors
2:24
and
2:26
compare
2:28
i guess go this way
2:30
but yeah definitely that's plenty long
2:32
so
2:33
the uh four and a half would be way too
2:35
long and almost you know a hazard to
2:38
hook your back on it when they're poking
2:39
out from the inside and
2:41
i guess if you did have to use the four
2:42
and a half because the threes were just
2:44
slightly too short you can always cut
2:45
off the bolt afterwards so to mark this
2:48
out because it's not on a shipping
2:50
container and we don't have the center
2:52
door seal i just grabbed a second large
2:54
back washer plate and that's gonna
2:57
simulate the the rubber uh door seal on
3:00
a shipping container and i might just
3:01
get riley to help me hold this in place
3:03
so we'll keep it away from his logo
3:06
and so that's the first one that's where
3:08
we're going to drill those holes
3:10
and what we'll do is we'll mark one two
3:13
and we'll just do a little
3:14
line where the bottom is
3:16
and then i want to you can hold that
3:19
i want to carry that line across
3:22
as level as i can
3:27
and that's where the receiver plate's
3:28
going to be and then to figure out how
3:30
far you want it we do a second washer
3:32
plate
3:34
and so that right there is about where
3:35
we want it
3:42
there you go so if you measure the back
3:44
of the lock box and you see where those
3:46
two holes are
3:47
and then where the receiver would end up
3:49
that's going to be pretty much exactly
3:51
where our 3d modeling wants it normally
3:53
with containers it's a hollow section
3:55
you have to drill through two surfaces
3:57
but with this being the plywood on the
3:59
inside we're just going to drill
4:00
straight through not stop and re-mark on
4:03
the back side one thing we need to
4:04
notice make sure that you're nice and
4:06
level when you're drilling through so
4:08
that you're not going wonky then your
4:10
back washer plate will be misaligned so
4:11
riley's just going to go in one more
4:13
time with a medium-sized bit and then
4:15
he'll finish off with a 31 64 drill bit
4:18
which is pretty much half inch that's
4:20
plenty large for these 7 16 carriage
4:23
bolts you could undersize just a little
4:24
bit more but it just gives us lots of
4:26
room to play
4:27
okay so these carriage bolts just slide
4:29
in like that and then flip on a 90
4:31
degree angle
4:34
and make sure you use your hand to hold
4:35
them from falling down and take the
4:37
other one do the same thing
4:39
go the other way with it
4:48
it's important to make sure that your
4:49
carriage bolts are in the
4:52
laser cut square slots on the lock block
4:54
side because that's your wrench on that
4:57
side of the lock box
4:59
and then on this side here
5:03
just use your large back washer plate
5:06
your
5:10
grade 8 flat washers
5:14
and then your 7 16 nylock nuts
5:43
when you're tightening these you just
5:44
want to make sure that you don't over
5:45
tighten one and then the other one gets
5:47
loose so just make sure that they're
5:48
both nice and tight there's not nothing
5:50
wiggling so this is in there rock solid
5:52
now so we'll move on to the receiver on
5:55
the left door and then this thing's
5:57
ready to be locked up nice and safe this
5:59
lock box is designed right around the 80
6:01
millimeter shackle lock here there's no
6:04
extra room than what's absolutely
6:06
required to get this lock to attach to
6:08
the receiver thieves don't have room to
6:11
get a pry bar in there there's no room
6:13
to get an angle grinder in there to cut
6:14
the shackle or nothing so make sure you
6:16
get the 80 not the 60 millimeter lock
6:18
that goes with this container
6:20
modification world lock box
6:22
and so what riley showed you earlier is
6:24
that they he feels they used bolt
6:26
cutters or something they've twisted the
6:29
latch here and
6:31
either angle grinder or bolt cut this
6:33
lock but you can see here even when it
6:35
was locked up
6:36
that was all exposed this is locked up
6:38
as well and can you see the lock
6:41
not really
6:43
the final thing what may have uh
6:46
deterred the thieves is his uh 24 hour
6:49
warning security sticker
6:51
and so you put that on there
6:54
and
6:56
people they don't know what it's about
6:58
lockbox is on there 24 hours a day but
7:00
they think potentially some alarm or
7:02
something's going to go off so they move
7:04
on to the
7:05
the other guy on site's trailer instead
7:07
of yours so that right there is how you
7:09
install a container modification world
7:11
high security lock box on a cargo
7:13
trailer if you enjoyed this video please
