The Container Guy gives you a sneak peek at our prototype version of the Quick Attach Container Skid, which is an inexpensive alternative to an oilfield container skid for shipping containers.
This product eliminates the need for steel container frames on all of your containers. Although it won’t replace loading skids for its weight distribution or ground clearance, the quick attach skid is one-tenth of the cost and you can use them on all of your sea cans.
If you’re loading a loaded shipping container, you don’t need a crane or heavy equipment to load your truck on-site. All you need is a set of these container skids in your truck and an oilfield winch truck. You can pull up to any container, quickly hook up the attach skids and winch the sea can up safely.
This product should be available to the public soon! For more information on the Quick Attach Container Skids, go to:

hi I'm Channing McCorriston, The Container Guy
0:02
guy
0:03
today we're going to give you a sneak
0:04
peek at our prototype quick attach
0:06
shipping container skids after landing a
0:08
deal on national television in 2011
0:11
where his team pitched their idea of
0:12
modifying shipping containers
0:14
he went on to start his own business
0:16
since then
0:17
he's completed thousands of container
0:19
modifications for clients in
0:21
every major industry now he wants to
0:24
teach you
0:24
everything he knows about container
0:26
modifications and accessories
0:29
channing mccorrison is the container guy
0:37
these skids there's a left and a right
0:40
they'll replace the need for a full
0:43
length loading skid underneath your
0:45
shipping container
0:46
so if you have four or five shipping
0:48
containers instead of having each one of
0:50
them skidded
0:51
if you want them to be loaded with an
0:52
oil field winch truck
0:54
you can just have one set of quick
0:55
attach container skids
0:58
and these can easily connect to each one
1:00
of your containers and you can load them
1:02
all
1:02
the same way you would load any other
1:05
oil filled structure
1:07
so all shipping containers have iso
1:09
corner castings at the bottom
1:12
this quick attach skid slides into the
1:16
corner casting
1:17
the twist lock is twisted and then
1:22
the hand nut tightened now you can use
1:24
your continuous cable sling
1:26
on an oil filled winch truck and
1:30
your capacity is much greater now
1:32
instead of putting a 3 8 chain
1:33
through the container corner casting
1:35
which typically rated for like 5 500
1:37
pounds
1:38
you have a highly rated uh attachment
1:41
uh structural attachment to the shipping
1:43
container and
1:45
now when loading loaded shipping
1:48
containers
1:49
instead of needing a crane or equipment
1:52
to load your truck
1:53
on site often due to safety regulations
1:56
you just need one set of these in your
1:58
truck with you at all times
2:00
and if you pull up to any shipping
2:02
container you're able to
2:04
quickly hook these up and winch the
2:06
container up properly and safely so
2:08
we'll just hook up
2:09
the second hook attach skid here to the
2:12
left side of the container
2:19
and so now that the container is skidded
2:22
on both sides you would be able to wrap
2:24
a continuous
2:25
cable sling or even a chain this
2:28
basically mimics an oil filled
2:30
container skid where your front cross
2:33
pipe
2:33
typically goes across the skid and then
2:35
your dog ear on the side
2:36
which retains the cable from slipping so
2:39
you can either
2:40
wrap a chain loop a chain around it a
2:42
half inch chain something larger than
2:43
what fits
2:44
inside the corner casting or if you have
2:47
the proper
2:47
cable sling yeah just like any other oil
2:50
filled skidded
2:51
structure you'll be able to handle this
2:53
container
2:54
i've got some cable here just to give
2:56
you an idea on how it connects
2:58
to the skid typically it's a larger
3:00
diameter cable than this
3:02
but it's nice and easy to handle so yeah
3:04
the cable
3:05
usually just wraps around rests along
3:08
the pipe that's where it pulls
3:09
and then here's the dog ear here that
3:11
stops the
3:12
cable from slipping off the pipe
3:16
so one other option for loading is a
3:18
large diameter chain
3:19
this is way too large especially with
3:22
the uh the hook
3:23
to fit through the iso corner castings
3:25
of a shipping container so
3:27
if you have a large chain instead of a
3:29
continuous cable swing
3:32
same goes chain will wrap around there
3:35
if you have a hook on the end you can
3:36
just hook the chain to itself
3:39
or if it's a continuous chain then grab
3:42
the chain with your cable hook on your
3:44
winch tractor so here we have
3:46
a skidded shipping container which is
3:48
essentially what we're trying to mimic
3:50
but spare the expense so this can has an
3:54
eight inch beam running underneath it
3:56
there's no replacement for you know the
3:58
ground clearance
4:00
or the weight distribution that a
4:01
typical container skid
4:04
will provide but for one tenth of the
4:06
cost
4:07
if you're on a gravel base and
4:08
potentially loading empty or near empty
4:11
containers
4:12
the quick attach skids totally the way
4:14
to go one set
4:16
a thousand cans versus one per container
4:19
so again this is a sneak peek at our
4:22
prototype version of our quick attach
4:23
container skids
4:24
we've made a few tweaks to the existing
4:26
design and these should be available to
4:29
the public for purchase shortly
4:31
Hope you learned something!
